Mandaram Nuwara - A Journey to the Dark Forest to Discover the Drum Beat of Hidden Angel.


12th September 2015 we were heading to the village called Mandaram Nuwara for night camping. Our journey was started at the early morning at 4:00 a.m. It was begin from Bandaragam. 13 friends were joined including two girls and driver. Our route was Colombo - Peradeniya (via colombo Kandy Road) - Gampola - Nuwara Eliya - Mandaran Nuwara. But our return journey was different. Mandaram Nuwara - Padiyapellea - Rikillagaskada - Kandy - Colombo.

Our first stop was at the Kadugannawa Gap. We were amazed with the breath taking Sun rise over the Bible rock.


There were many rode side waterfalls along the way.

Delta Fall is about 60 m in height and situated near to Pussellawa.

"Devathura Ella"

"Devathura Ella" is situated just before the Ramboda tunnel.

" Lower Ramboda Fall"

Access to the " Lower Ramboda Fall" is at the other side the Ramboda Tunnel. There is a hotel by the side of the tunnel. Access to the water fall is through the hotel.

"Upper Ramboda Fall" Access is next to the Middle Ramboda and about 1 km hike to the water fall.

Gandi Gini Ella is situated at Ramboda Thawalanthanne and height is about 270m (330 ft).
Our fist day was ended in Mandaranm Nuwara. Our camping destination was there.

Sri Lanka hill myna -  (Gracula ptilogenys). This bird isendemic to Sri Lanka.
 The rhino-horned lizard (Ceratophora stoddartii)-කගමුව අං ක‍ටුස්සා- It is endemic to Sri Lanka
 Some animal droppings along the way.
